ERA STRUCTURE AND WHAT WE DO

Elder Rights Advocacy (ERA) is an independent agency funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Health and Ageing to provide advocacy services for people receiving Australian Government funded aged care services in Victoria. It is part of the National Aged Care Advocacy Program. Our service is managed through a volunteer Committee of Management.

We also assist carers and family members who represent the interests of aged care recipients, as well as people who have been assessed as eligible for an Australian Government funded aged care service.

We provide a unique service to individuals through our model of advocacy that focuses on helping older people (or their representatives) to understand and exercise their rights, and to have those rights respected in the delivery of their care services.

ERA’s service is free and confidential, with a focus on a positive outcome for the resident or community care recipient, including participation and choice in care planning.

ERA aims to provide a quality service. We welcome any comments or complaints about our service. If you are unhappy with the service we provide, please let us know and we will do everything we can to address your concern.

You will find more information about ERA and what we do in our annual report on the What's New page.
