Can the hostel where my friend is living restrict my visits or stop me from taking my friend out for the day?

Answer

If your friend has no decision making disability then it is their right to decide who they will see and when and where they will go. If the person does have a disability then these decisions can be made by a responsible family member or an appointed guardian. If the staff are concerned about the resident’s safety on outings, they should discuss this with you, and alert you to any specific measures you could take to continue providing enjoyable outings to your friend.
